Having a 4-Gbps firewall terminating over thirty 1-Gbps network segments because that is considered 'Next-Generation Security'. It's the equivalent of putting 30 pounds of shot into a 4 pound cannon or taking a Lamborghini off-roading. Besides, we REALLY need to use all these network ports on the front of the firewall.

Time to another network segment to the fireswitch - are there any free ports left?

freshies

The term Freshies can be applied in many different situations. I would agree first and foremost that it relates to fresh snow/powder, but it can also be used to describe something new, or a great looking chick (doesn't work for describing a guy).
A very versatile word. See below:

Used when snowboarding: "Check out the freshies on the freshies over there!" - this could mean: Check out the new clothes on the hot chicks over there (who happen to be boarding on the freshies) or it could mean: Check out the hot chicks boarding on the fresh powder over there.

In social circles of people who follow(ed) the tours of The Greatful Dead, their post-Garcia offshoot bands(e.g. Rat Dog, Phil Lesh And Friends) and similar jam bands, freshies refers to a fresh pair of socks,i.e. new or clean.
