A form of allegiance having the characteristics of a spouse, traditionally female, who has blindly and completely devoted themselves to the role of building up the health, wealth and reputation of their partner, especially when it reaches the level of self-neglect.

Everyone could see she had sworn ellegiance to her husband and like every wife before her who took this risk, eventually she was left alone, sticky, broke and confused.
