In English, we write from the left side of the page to the right, but in many languages such as Arabic, Aramaic, Azeri, Dhivehi/Maldivian, Hebrew, Kurdish (Sorani), Persian/Farsi and Urdu, they instead write from right to left. Typically used in Singlish to differentiate between the "right & proper"/official/etc (by right) way of doing something and the "quick & easy"/unofficial/corner-cutting/etc (by left) way of doing something.
