West Oak Side (abbreviated as WOS) is a large predominantly african-american street gang that originally started back in West side Philadelphia. The West Oak Side has charters scattered from Philadelphia, to New York, to even the West Coast. West Oak Side started after a shooting took place when one of their members named Oakley “Oakdale” Smith got shot and killed by a rival faction in Philadelphia . They rebranded the gang to West Oak Side to show love and support for their fallen member. They are mostly known for engaging in drug trafficking, firearm trafficking, and various legal businesses. Their most infamous leader being Jaevon “JV” Sinclair has been on the run for over a decade, becoming one of the most wanted males in the United states. There’s rumors that JV has gone back to Los Angeles, continuing to run his enterprise and trying to avoid going to prison.

Used to describe San Francisco and the Peninsula (San Mateo County) by people who live in the East Bay (Alameda and Contra Costa Counties). The term is meant to bring awareness to the fact that many people from SF and the Peninsula often don’t seem to realize that the East Bay exists until they can no longer afford housing there and decide to move to the East Bay.
