Social media

Theres not really anything social about social media, if anything, social media encourages people to be distant from each other and in their own little world/bubble.
Social media provides the illusion of being part of a large network, meanwhile some people are getting rich via this platform. There was a time before social media where people actually knew each other in real life and had actual life experience with the other person, rather than the virtual image of someone on a computer screen.

Social Simp

Someone who lost their sense of dignity long ago. When faced with a cancellation mob trying to destroy their life, take away their job, and ruin their reputation over a trivial matter, something that happened decades ago, or a misinterpretation of something said or done, they grovel and apologize in the hopes that they might appease the mob. These spineless characters beg for forgiveness even though it has yet to prove fruitful in any case.
"Did you hear that Tommy is being canceled because he held the door open for some girls at the mall? Clear case of internalized patriarchy."

"And he apologized for that?! What a feckless social simp."

Whether Vancouver, Canada in 2011 after the Canucks lost The Stanley Cup or a rock concert that in ended with overturned police cars, the root causes of social trash mob violence must always be first examined from a sociological perspective before jumping to any pundit-like political conclusions.
