The irrational fear of something that a rational person could avoid anyway.
Arachnophobia (fear of spiders) -- a rational person avoids handling them.
Chionophobia (fear of snow): Snow causes unease in blizzards, sending people home from work where they can be safe.
Kathisophobia (fear of sitting): Sitting causes unease for overweight individuals fearing chair breakage, and being able to get back on their feet.
Numerophobia (fear of numbers): Clocks and numbers cause unease in high-pressure tasks (tests, lateness, painful events).
Trypanophobia (fear of needles): Needles cause unease due to pain.
Omphalophobia (fear of belly buttons): Belly buttons cause unease due to modesty or nakedness concerns in formal settings.
Coulrophobia (fear of clowns): Clowns cause unease in creepy settings, some children react with fear when they see a clown for the first time.
Nomophobia (fear of being without mobile phone access): Phonelessness causes unease in emergencies.
cynophobia (fear of dogs): Mail carriers avoid dogs.
agoraphobia (fear of open spaces): People become uneasy in open spaces during a severe wind storm.
ablutophobia (fear of bathing): People avoid bathing during a lightning storm, or when there is a safety concern like falling or drowning.
