Get the Rubber armmug. In American football, when the offense has the ball late in the second quarter on third down and long, and often in their own territory, the quarterback will likely chuck up a prayer throw in hopes of getting a first down. An arm punt is when this pass is intercepted. This is not as much on the quarterback as a regular interception, because it is a desperation throw and, barring insane luck, a less risky throw would have zero chance at getting a first down.
In the 2016 NFC Championship Game, when the Packers had the ball on third and long with 2 minutes left in the half, Aaron Rodgers threw an arm punt to a Falcons defender.
