Lol is now a very common word when it comes to texting. it stands for 'Laughing Out Loud' it's just an expression. It is said to laugh at something, normally just an inside laugh

When a "lol" appears towards the start and another at the end of a text to portray a lighthearted tone, yet in reality the sender is likely nervous or passive aggressive.
