drama-rock

Back in the late eighties we had glam-rock. The music was characterized by its over-the-top "glamor" aspect despite the fact that the majority of bands under this heading were fronted by men. Full circle we have come, and now we have drama-rock, a music form that has a similar aspect to glam rock except its full of melodramtic lyrics about some sort of imagined pain-- usually something along the lines of love. Its melodies are extremely bombastic while its singers attempt to make their voices sound as throaty and tortured as possible, whith the occasional high note for effect.
