a typical result of overwhelming teenage angst, built up anger towards "the man", or some type of abuse. Emo kids can be classified by a random grouping of hairs (usually black or bleached blonde) over one eye, lots of random chains on their clothes, and very tight jeans. They usually cut themselves and look depressed, but don't feel bad, they're really just angry and bi-curious.

Tom- "Look at the emo kid over there in the corner!"
Robby- "Yeah he's such a douche bag!"
Tom- "No kidding! I bet he's bi-curious!"

A generally winey kid, who will let his or her emotions run wild and not care about other people seeing them. They listen to bands alot of people don't know and act like they've been emo for all their lives. Also, emo means emotional. Sometimes people say their emo and "try" to commit suicide just for the attention.

Look at the emo kid slit his wrists over his girlfriend...cry, cry your troubles away emo kid.

i'm an all rounder, love sci fi, listen to rock, write songs and poems, lord of the rings, and still i'm classed as a nerd/geek? i read comics, enjoy company, never cry, have a messenger bag, love life, writing a novel, am i an emo kid?

Have i driven them both away?

Kid = child, teenager, young adult. Or a young goat.
Emo = emotive hardcore.
Emotive hardcore = genre of music.
Emo Kid = listens to emotive hardcore, makes themselves stand out by dressing a certain way, acting a certain way etc.

Just another high school stereotype, like prep, gangster, goth, jock, etc.

Walking down the hallways of a typical American public high school, you'll see a variety of stereotypically-dressed kids - some wear Hollister and Abercrombie, some wear clothes from Hot Topic. An emo kid just gets made fun of more since they're a minority. WHO BLOODY CARES. There are no specific guidelines anybody has to follow to be in a stereotypical group, chances are somebody'll put you in the group immediately anyway! And once you're in, you're WAY in. Your best bet is to be your own person, then they can't label you.

Kid - not quite a child, not yet an adult

A member of a once-sub-culture born after the death of punk and the rise of power-pop - which has become the latest pop culture. Its identity and entity exist in the ideas that no one understands the emo kid quite like "this" music singer does. Buys effeminate clothing at Hot Topic, sometimes salvation army lends a hand, or takes hand-me-downs.

Proof of these "emo kids" being the current pop culture exist in the numbers. Hot Topic sells more merchandise per square foot than Walmart (The retail store for 90% of the other American cultures combined).

Despite numbers and despite proof, these subjects consider themselves unique, misunderstood, and unidentifiable.

Emo kids rely on their parents to feed, clothe, and shelter them in most cases, yet resent any advice or love broadcast from them (which, sadly, such love is usually the cure for this ailment). Although currently large in numbers and have a stable habitat on myspace.com, the emo kids will become a quickly dying breed, simply because brooding, listening to music, depression, and angst do not make for self-sustainence nor proper job skills.

The emo kid at the mall is waiting for his mom to pick him up. He just stopped by Hot Topic to return his studded gloves and chick pants. He will blog about this on myspace when he gets home.
