Friend zone

noun: period marked by the feeling of disappointment, mutual awkwardness, sadness and/or recovery immediately following the romantic and/or sexual rejection by a close friend.
(AKA: The brother/sister zone)

verb: romantically and/or sexually reject a close friend
noun: Damn... I thought for sure Suzie would reciprocate. I didn't expect to be put in the friend zone.

friend discount

1. When a "friend" asks for deeply discounted pricing on an item you are selling, essentially robbing you of money you could easily make from any average buyer, and you grant it almost exclusively because you'd feel bad if you didn't.

2. When a friend immediately demands payable the privilege of knowing him/her in the form of a discount.
"I'm selling my XBox 360 for $140 on craigslist."

"My XBox just red-ringed. Can I get a friend discount on that?"

*Pause*

"Okay, I'll give it to you for $100."

"Sweet, thanks man!"

Someone you won't waste a weekend day on, guy or girl.
I don't answer John's/Jill's call from Friday night through Monday morning. They're ok for a weekday friend, but I wouldn't waste a weekend on them.

A person who is a friend, only when your other friends are not present.

Also referred to as a "number two". Any social networking site has a Top Friends, and the number is your next best friend.
"Well, John isn't here, so I guess I'll have to talk to my fill-in friend."
