Blazer Band

A musical group, usually from the early 2000’s, that begins to experience a degree of success in which they feel obligated to create a facade of professionalism by wearing blazers over semi casual attire in press photos and during performances.

Dude #1: Yo, I saw Spoon at the Windjammer last night.

Dude #2: Sick. How was it?
Dude #1: It was alright. But I feel like it’s been ten years and they’re still just blazer band, try hard status though.

Tanya-Band

A band, typically very poppy in nature, that just makes a person want to dance. Typically guys won't admit they like this band, but most people can't turn it off. However Girls, especially Girls named Tanya, love them and occasionally make interpretive dance videos for them that can be found on the interwebz. lol.

'Normally I'm not into Tanya-bands, but that chick from Hey Monday is pretty friggin cute'.

band-ending death

A sudden death of a band member (usually the lead singer) that leads to the band's permanent break up. They will decide that the member that died was irreplaceable and thus cannot go on.

Please note that there are plenty of bands, like the Rolling Stones, that carried on after the loss of a bandmate. Sometimes the surviving members form a new band, like how the surviving members of Joy Division reformed as New Order when Ian Curtis killed himself.

Queen didn't disband when Freddie Mercury passed away and John Deacon left, they just changed as a band.

The Doors was kinda this because they released two shitty albums after Jim Morrison died.
