“EMO"
It's a word commonly misunderstood as a modern stereotype, which is used day after day again and again.
"emo" is actually referred to a specific sub-genre of punk rock known as "emotive-hardcore" which has been around since the 80’s
Emotive-Hardcore has branched off of other similar genres such as "Hardcore" and "Post-Hardcore".
Emotive-hardcore is the true meaning of the word "emo" and has been twisted to refer to something far from what originally intended. In fact, “emo” has kept its original meaning and now its new meaning causing it to become an ambiguous word. Most however just use it to make their lives less boring (haha)
However these people, although most listen to “emo” music, cannot possible be referred to as “emo” because they are not a sub-genre!
It is not only wrong to label someone as “EMO” but also degrading because of the numerous stereotypes. the most common misconseption: CUTTING. These do refer to a minority of the “Scene/HxC” society. Although scene kid’s clothing may represent a state of depression it has nothing to with being a cutter. Scene kids and cutters are two separate types of persons.
-Remember that if everyone were the same, it would be a pretty boring, bland, and monotone world. The need to be different is necessary in order for one to express their inner feelings and thoughts, as well as share common interests with others.
So Stop the hating! :D

Emo has nothing to do with cutting, depression, or black actually. I mean, yes, many emos have that aesthetic but it isn't part of the definition.
The real definition according to a real emo, like me, is more like a version of intensly emotional rather than dead inside.
To be honest, I would go so far as to say that My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, and Twenty One Pilots are emo. Why? Emo music is a genere of music that is extremely emotional, listeners can actually relate to it because it tends to talk about the subjects that almost no one else is willing to sing about, the stressful ones. And most of the singers are passionate about what they're doing with their life and they genuinely care about their fans, unlike Justin Bieber. Just because you wear black, like rock, wear eyeliner and an orange beanie, doesn't make you emo. Your heart does. Emos don't even wear that half the time. It's all stereotyping. Don't stereotype people, they decide wether they want to join The Black Parade or The Skeleton Clique.

Bland, shallow corporatist pastiche of Punk that embodies non of the values or raw honest emotional integrity of Punk but continually dances on its grave non the less.. Strangely popular.
I just saw Emo kings My Chemical Romance advertise Guitar Hero on XBox Live Marketplace.. Man what a bunch of sellouts plus their music is really bland and doesn't connect with me on any emotional level at all

Teenagers or preteens that listen to bands such as twenty one pilots, my chemical romance, pierce the veil, sleeping with sirens, bring me the horizon, etc... they all shop at hot topic and think they're depressed and have anxiety and spend a lot of time on tumblr. Oh and they're all bi or sexually confused.
