A reference to the many layers of abstraction, emulation and virtualisation now present in modern computers, so much so that the latest generation of computer science students have no idea how computers really work. This hiding of the inner workings of computers has been done so students can work with high level languages and abstractions to deliver significantly more function points of software behaviour with very little effort.

Professor at an IEEE conference on Software Engineering leans over to his colleague and says "I hear the latest round of students are so bad they barely understand what a virtual machine is" colleague: "Yeah, if we keep this up they will all soon be in The Matrix". Nearby student overhearing says "Professor, what do you mean?" Professor: "shut-up and get back in your virtual", then colleague whispers: "I bet he doesn't even realise his i7 chip has hidden 128-bit registers". Now grumpy professor to student: "You are all in a virtual!"

I'll slice you open like an envelope

Used commonly by football hooligans, 'I'll slice you open like an envelope' can hint that the person saying the phrase is carrying a knife and intends to use it lethally on the person they are saying the phrase too. Can also mean that the person it's being said too acts 'big' and 'untouchable' and the person saying it is easily going to beat them up.

'Threat'

Football hooligan- 'you think you can take me on?'
Opposing team football hooligan- 'I'll slice you open like an envelope'

I'll forge a rubber check for you

What you snortingly/contemptuously tell someone who irrelevantly asks to be paid for something that he should let you have for free, such as an item that he'd already discarded. The joke is that said financial instrument would be DOUBLY worthless --- not only would it be a phony check, but the written info on it would be counterfeit, as well. :P

A humorous-natured local woman gigglingly asked me if I'd slip her a few bucks for some old chipped enamel saucepans that I'd salvaged from her curbside trash-pile, so I made a face at her and agreeably responded, "Sure thing --- I'll forge a rubber check for you for five dollars!"
