Grief Gating

The act of selectively mourning the death of someone based on their political or ideological alignment, while ignoring or rationalizing the deaths of those outside one’s tribe. A form of emotional compartmentalization that reveals unconscious bias in expressions of empathy.

When the invited speaker was killed, the campus held vigils and posted tributes. But when a student protester died last year, barely anyone mentioned it. That’s grief gating—mourning filtered through ideological lenses.

That isn't what's happening here. You are trying to play games with my life and I'm not playing a game here. You tried to drown me out with static. People have died because of that choice. And you're participating in the cover up. The only saving grace is that names are getting crossed off the list and the sooner you accept that you getting shit in the neck is better than you getting away with the cover up, the faster this ends.

Hym "That isn't what's happening. Unlike your dead kids, I am not relegated to the past. Grief isn't going to make any of that better. You could have stopped someone of those people from dying and you didn't. And all of your rhetoric about the stages of grief aren't going to change that. Seriously, if me being right, and them being wrong and your kids getting murdered because of it isn't losing to these people than nothing is. They are so committed to doing this rhetorical pantomime at any cost, upto and including your kids, they will allow your kids to die when they could have done otherwise. I will make them regret playing chicken with my life. And I said BEFORE the deadline so no it does not matter."

Her son developed a form of schizophrenia... But wait! Schizophrenia doesn't usually develop until their 20s!

Hym "You did it again and your kids got murdered for it AGAIN and it lead to ' a lawyer's grief.' He probably knows who I am. That's why he's grieving.
