Machine Head was formed on October 12, 1991, in Oakland, California by vocalist/guitarist Robb Flynn.

Machine Head has been mainly described as groove metal,959697 thrash metal,9598 heavy metal,9599100 nu metal,95101102103 and alternative metal.104 The band is influenced by Californian thrash metal bands such as Metallica, Exodus, Slayer and Testament, traditional heavy metal bands as Iron Maiden,105 crossover thrash bands Suicidal Tendencies and Cro-Mags, groove metal bands Pantera, Exhorder and Fear Factory, and grunge bands Nirvana, Soundgarden and Alice in Chains.106 Machine Head is considered to be one of the pioneering bands in the new wave of American heavy metal

Headkase

Australia's answer to Mr. Bungle and Dog Fashion Disco. Circus metal band with six members, including a drummer with evil clown facepaint. Often accused of being Slipknot ripoffs in the looks department. Music is heavy and circusy.

- Oh look! Slipknot's in town! No wait, it's Headkase.

- I don't like metal, but I like what Headkase do with it.
