Philanthroprick: A famous person who tends to spread awareness and ask for donations or money for a cause but doesn't help much. They will stay around for the photos and hand shakes but usually leave right afterwards. Another version of vanity.
Examples of a philanthroprick? Many celebrities who tout about how we need to help others but instead take their private jets to third world countries with a team a photographers. You know the types...
Something I've seen a few times in the news involves soup kitchens for the homeless.... I am sure there are plenty of pictures of celebrities/politicians "helping" them serve some soup but leave after the hands are shaken and the pictures are done.
This is not to be confused with a true philanthropist (Jon Stewart, Gary Sinise or Bill Gates) who are very active within their respective organizations but don't make a huge deal out of it.
