A status where someone makes money, even a lot of money, but because it is derived from illegal activity, the person can't use it as a normal person would (i.e., can't use the income for a mortgage, can't put it in bank accounts etc.

Mike has a million dollars, but he is only hood rich, so he has to stack the cash in the closet.

Hood Rich

1.) The act of being hood or ghetto in a celebrative matter. When something or someone is ‘Hood Rich,’ it often expose high glam, popularity, southern hospitality, a little bit of income, a relax state of mind, or positive living in a not-so positive place. When it comes to some exerts of being Hood Rich, it can be viewed as enjoying a Friday evening with the block boys, pretty girls, cheap alcohol beverages, pressure (cannabis), and music enjoying a night-in a term like that, the even can be described as a ‘Hood Rich’ event.
2.) A Hood Rich person is someone living in a project, block, or ghetto that has a pleasant lifestyle of a type of lower social status luxery.
3.) A term describing a success from nothing to something.

Person 1: Damn nigga what a beautiful southern night! Girls, brew, pressure, and black-n-milds!
Person 2: Yea nigga this is Hood Rich!

Jackie: Damn look at Tommy he be looking all hooked up.
Lilly: I know right and he be staying up in them Rembrant Apartments, how he be doing that?
Jackie: I don't know that nigga got it Hood Rich though.

HOOD RICH: Contrary to Popular Belief, Hood Rich is someone who is financially established in the middle class bracket but still surround their life style around less fortunate people. Example: Even though O Boy has a nice job as a Store Manager at WalMart, he still live in the Ghetto with his people. Hood Rich is living or surrounding yourself with things and people less fortunate than a Middle Class lifestyle, PERIOD.

Hood Rich

1. Hood Rich is sacrifing things you NEED in order to afford/or at least look like you can afford things you WANT. Typical of lower-income society.

2. Projecting an image of success or power that you really have not attained by showing off material goods such as cars or houses in an effort to impress those around you. In the end...in the 'real world' you're still a joke.

1. Driving an $80k Benz, but still living at home with your parents instead of buying your own house or renting your own apartment, that's hood rich.

2. Hood Rich is driving a $100k Benz, living in a million dollar house but still having the majority of society look down on you.

Anyone that lives in any neighborhood, and portrays themselves has having more money than they really do is "hood rich". You do not have to live in "da hood" in order to be hood rich. There are a lot of people that live in beautiful homes in the suburbs and they really cannot afford their home. I work in the mortgage industry, and I talk with these customers everyday. There are so many people with homes in bankruptcy and foreclosure. These people are finding themselves back were they started in "da hood" or back on the bus stop. It's about starting small and then growing big. Leave the bling to the celebrities.

If you live in the hood with your parents, have a college degree, work a full-time job,drive a new car, your child attends a private school,you have some money in the bank, but cannot afford a nice home with your income in a low crime neighborhood,then you are hood rich.
