Gait Ratio

When a set of steps in a gait occurs twice as fast on one (usually) horizontal half than the other.

The most common gait ratio in quadrobics is 1:1, besides lean and switch step, which have 1:2 and 2:1.

square gait

To square gate is to march or walk with the arm swinging forward at the same time as the corresponding leg i.e. right hand, right leg.

Awkward and distinctive.

Called a 'square' gait as the natural rythmn or 'gait' is altered to be equal instead of alternate (i.e. right arm, left leg).

A term commonly used within military organisations.

He had problems with marching as he used to square gait all the time.

To walk in a slow and meandering fashion, usually leaning backwards to an extravagant degree.

Base Gait

One of three of the main gaits in quadrobics. They are taught and trained first, and are the most important and versatile gaits in the sport.

The three base gaits include walk, canter and trot.
