Fujoshi means someone who simply reads BL.
The amount of people who seem to genuinely think that the word fujoshi means “rotten women” because they “fetishize gays” and not because it was a misogynistic slur used against women/men who read “nasty” manga and dared to have a sexuality outside of what society deemed appropriate, is disturbing and strange, and admittedly, somewhat hilarious because it’s just such a dumb take.
Not only was "gay fetishizer" never the definition of fujoshi in the first place, but you simply can not take an innocent word from another culture, and misuse it as an insult. It perpetuates harmful stereotypes about said culture.

It is a japanese term reclaimed by women, who were called "rotten" or "unmarriable" for liking gay content, which was seen as sinful. It was originally used by homophobic and mysogynistic men who used it to degrade women.

“Fujoshi”, the romanization of the word 腐女子 (“rotten woman”), is a homophonic pun with the word 婦女子 (“respectable woman”). It was originally created by men and used against women, saying that they (the women) "weren't suitable for marriage", as said women enjoyed BL (Boy’s Love), a japanese genre of fictional queer media. The term then was reclaimed by said women and now simply means "a woman who enjoys BL". Male and gender-neutral/non-binary equivalents of the word were also created ("fudanshi", for men who enjoy BL, and "fujin", for gender-neutral/non-binary people who enjoy BL).
In the western part of the world, however, the "fujoshi" term is being falsely accused of meaning "(straight) women who fetishize queer men", thus ignoring the misogynistic and homophobic origins of the word, as well as ignoring how many people discovered themselves as queer men through reading/watching BL.

Fujoshi (translated from Japanese as "rotten girl") is a term amongst the anime community that applies to degenerate females who are obsessed with Yaoi and gay men, usually to an unhealthy and/or uncomfortable degree. Fujoshis typically don't actually support real LGBT people (nor the show they're watching) and will fetishize a pairing of two or more young looking anime boys regardless of their canonical sexuality.
Essentially, it is the female equivalent of men who brag about hentai.
