Oppositism

Definition:
A behavioral pattern in which an individual moves, thinks, or acts in contradiction to their claimed values, desires, or identity — knowingly or unknowingly — often resulting in self-sabotage, confusion in others, or emotional dissonance.

Origin:
Coined in the 21st century to describe the cultural, psychological, and relational phenomenon of presenting one way while living another. Often rooted in fear, trauma, performance culture, or unprocessed shame.
She kept posting about love, light, and growth — but ghosted everyone who challenged her. Classic oppositism.
