a compliment given to overweight people. basically, it means "you might actually pass for pretty if you lost some weight". overly trying to take emphesis off the body and make someone feel good about SOMETHING. origanally meant as a compliment, but now sort of a putdown because most people know it means the person saying it thinks you're fat.

What's Eating Gilbert Grape? is simultaneously heartbreaking and heartwarming. see it! Johnny Depp is amazingly profound and just fantastic in this movie!! not to mention, he is georgeous! Leonardo DiCaprio, as Arnie (Gilbert Grape's mentally retarded younger brother)is also stupendous in this film, which is one if his first major successes as a serious actor.
