Nostalgia of Recency

The feeling of a positive remembrance of an event that has occurred after Covid-19.

The only reason I have nostalgia of recency is because lockdown was so peaceful compared to today.

Although, I still don't like my chores 🗣🧊🧊🧊

Nostalgia

That bittersweet feeling of seeing something that triggers good childhood memories. It feels nice but it can also hurt, knowing that those nostalgic memories you’re seeing are just memories now.

“I saw an old toy in my basement while I was taking out clothes from my dryer. It was very dirty and dusty, but this toy has triggered memories from my childhood. That was the feeling of nostalgia; it feels so good, but now that toy is just a distant memory..”

Nostalgia Mining

The creation of a movie or piece of media with the sole purpose being to bring back nostalgic memories from its audience. This happens because the producers of these movies or pieces of media know that they will profit off of your childhood memories.

person 1: I really want to see that new "Mean Girls" movie! I used to love the original when I was a kid.
person 2: I've heard the production quality isn't very good because they are nostalgia mining instead of putting work into the movie to make money.

Blinded by Nostalgia

Blinded by nostalgia is typically a term referring to a player in a video game who knows that they enjoyed a certain newer update of a game, but act as if an older update of the game was better, because it was more "nostalgic", even though the update didn't bring really good stuff.

"Season 3 was better than Chapter 2 Season 2"
