semi-otaku

A person that is similar to an otaku. However, that person may not as obsess to anime as normal otaku. He or she may have stranger interests toward anime, and the person may even carefully choose among anime movies in order to find out and watch the best ones from his or her view.
This type of person can also be considered as a short-term phenomenon of a person before becoming an otaku.

Man: Have you watched the latest anime movie in cinema? It's a must-watch movie for every otaku.
Woman: No, I haven't. I don't want to watch it anyway. I'm a semi-otaku and that movie is not what I'm looking for.

Otaku

Otaku is a term used for anime fans. However lately it is a word used only for "eleet" followers of the genre. Most of us have liked " Japanese anime" in one way or another but it is the Otaku that knows what happens in each and every episode of every anime series ever to have existed. The problem is Otakus have broken off into their own snobbish inner circles. They get angry when someone gets a small fact wrong about a certain show and they insist on adressing each other with words such as "chan". They also get very angry and impassioned in meaningless debates such as who would win in a fight between Darth Vader and Sephiroth. Naturally they will always vote for the most girly metrosexaul inspired male character with a huge sword in any discussion pitting famous characters against each other. In the end Otakus are not unbarable because they dress in cosplay or draw fan art. They are unbarable because they are over obcessed, shun originality, and spaz over trivial bull crap. It could be argued the new gen otaku are far more extreme then their first generation counterparts. Older appreciators of anime on average are more laid back despite their eccentric habits.

I enjoy anime casually but it is the otaku that sleeps with a life sized sailor moon doll and quotes Naruto word for word!

otakukin

"Otakukin" are somewhat like otherkin. Otherkin believe that they are the spiritual reincarnation of an animal or mythical being, but the difference between otherkin and otakukin is that otakukin believe they are the spiritual reincarnation, or that they have the spirit, of an anime character. Hated on by many inconsiderate rude people for no reason at all, sadly.

Dude guy 1: Hey man what do you think is your reincarnation/spirit?
Dude guy 2: Well, I think I have the spirit of Otonashi..
Dude guy 1: What do you mean? What or who is Otonashi?
Dude guy 2: Otonashi is a character in an anime.
Dude guy 1: I meant reincarnation or spirit of an animal etc...
Dude guy 2: Otakukin is what they call people who think they have the same spirit as an anime character.
Dude guy 1: Ohhh. That's really.. weird.. as fuck.
