Is that how you’re giving it up

In a state of disbelief or disappointment at someone’s decision to let go of something. Implying that they are doing so in a way that seems uncharacteristic of them
Implication of low effort:
By asking “is that how you’re giving it up,” the speaker is implying that the other person is not giving their best effort.

Giving up

There's a difference between recognizing unrealistic expectations by an employer or government (trying to do physical work and breathe through a mask at the same time, for example) and saying go fuck yourself to the folks making the mandates and their wildfire/changes, and giving up on finding a job or living life. Most people below retirement age really do want to work, they also know what the realities of it are.
Not working at times when a government threatens to shut everything down on a regular basis and keeps people from finding a working/living rhythm isn't the same thing as refusing to work/live, or giving up on work/life entirely.
