"You had to be there" is a phrase that one often uses when someone asks about a situation/joke/piece of time.
Basically, it means that it's hard to actually explain what that situation was like and that the person who is asking had to be a part of the situation to understand.

Get the only youmug. Phrase used in an infamous rap battle that led to a fight. It is now commonly used to further anger a person who is not up to par with your style (or anything for that matter). Studies have shown that the use of the words 'Oh u mad' before the phrase further irritates the person.
