A derogatory name for a prison officer (screw, kanga etc) used by inmates in U.K Jails and prisons (predominantly used in Scotland)
Meant to imply they are nothing more than key turners, since they spend many hours unlocking and locking cell doors.

a prison term - this the person in a given cell block or tier who is in charge with regards to his race. In a lightly integrated tier containing hispanics and whites, their will be two. Their main jobs are conflict-resolution, peace-keeping, policy creation and rules implementation to improve the lives of the men under them and in this case the two men serve as diplomats for their races. They are the only ones trusted to speak to the COs w/o a shadow. Synonyms include Shotcaller or Boss.
