The amount of time you "promise" to stay at a place or an event you probably shoulnd't be at because of more important obligations but choose to do so anyway because of peer pressure.

Often said as a means to comfort oneself or another.

Results in a ridiculously extended stay, an awesome time, and a bad morning.

Gabriel: Hey dude let's go to a bar!!
Javier: I can't bro! I have an exam tomorrow!
Gabriel: C'mon bro, just 30 min. I promise!
Javier: ahhh fine!
