Nernie

A found object that is saved for later use, such as in an art project. It may be a mechanical part, a shard of pottery or glass, a plastic doohickey, a toy (or piece of one), a bit of decorative stuff, a button - just about anything. Usually overlooked as “trash” by most, a nernie collector would see its potential and snatch it up with glee.

Bob has put together an impressive nernie collection over the years which takes up an entire room in his home.
