Person 1: Hey, were you at the party last night?

Person 2: Nah, I was off the 5 next to the Ikea. You know, near the McDonald's where we got that strawberry milkshake?

Historically Near-Sighted

a historically near-sighted person is someone who can only remember recent history, wether it be in the recent few centuries or even just the recent few years.
July 4, John: do you realize that a year ago today we had to use bread slices instead of buns for hot dogs?
Bob: do you also that realize today is when america became independent? John: REALLY? Bob: yes, its taught in history class. John: oh, sorry, i didn't know that becuase im historically near-sighted.

Near

Here's a sentence using "near" in the archaic sense of stingy:

Uncle Harold wouldn't even spring for a round of drinks, so cheap he bordered on near.
Note: This usage of "near" is not very common today. You might consider a more common synonym like "stingy," "cheap," or "miserly" depending on the desired emphasis.
