actoring

The infinitive form of this intransitive verb is "to actor". In a scene where an actor is actoring, that person's focus on winning an award is what comes through to the audience, rather than the character that the actor is supposed to be playing. Actoring most often happens in an emotional scene full of tears, during a monologue, or while the actor is staring into space contemplatively and wistfully, but actoring can be done in almost any scene that involves a long close-up shot of the thespian's face.
