Someone who listens to music with a deeper meaning and uses it to find themselves. Emos usually wear black and have a general dislike for other humans. Most emos like bands such as my chemical romance, panic! at the disco, fall out boy, falling in reverse, Green Day, paramore, all time low, bring me the horizon, and many others. Some emos can be found wearing heaven eye makeup, usually black eyeliner.

Get the Emomug. A young adult/teenager who cuts their wrists, arms, legs, etc.
The true emos are the one's that actually do the cutting because they have a lot of things in their life that seem to go wrong, and they are not always just the people who wear skinny jeans, scarfs, black side swept hair.

Get the Emomug. A style of music relating to mostly underground bands, or music not popular to the self proclaimed 'in crowd'. Common listeners follow trends set by the lead singers of these bands, including skinny jeans, horn-rimmed glasses and band t-shirts. Incredibly false accusations of the term 'emo' include the opinions that people who listen to this style of music have mental disorders such as depression or bipolar depression, and that most all of them SI, or self injure, meaning they cut themselves.
Bands who produce 'emo' music include Fall Out Boy, Flyleaf, Suicide Silence, Bring Me The Horizon and several other bands listed under the categories of 'screamo' or 'punk'. People often think the teens who listen to this music mimick the lyrics to the songs, which created the steryotyp that anyone wearing skinny jeans, horn rimmed glasses, black skin tight tops or have the 'emo hairstyle' (layered and teased, mulitcolored) go along are instantly emo.

Get the Emomug. A subculture in which you can see people wearing lots of black, ripped clothing with black hair, eyeliner, and piercings. They do not seem to care what other people think a lot of the time and wear lots of dark clothing. They generally have an aura of depressiveness and/or angst about them and can be antisocial all of the time or sometimes because of their nature or personal experiences in their past. Emo music is generally music that has an underlying message of hating oneself, or hating what they have become or talking about death, self harm, or other forms of pain. It is typically a bit softer than hard rock, but more hardcore than pop or easy listening rock. Emos also typically self harm themselves, mainly because they are of the mindset that they hate themselves. Obviously not every emo self harms, and not every emo self harms for that reason, but it is very common.
An emo should NOT be mistaken as the same thing as a goth. Goths wear lots of vampirical dress, and are generally more interested in the evil, satanic sort of thing. Emos are upset at themselves or the world and are closed off, they aren't necessarily unfriendly though, lots of emos I know are very nice, but they are typically not the type to be all outgoing and bubbly.

Get the Emomug. basically means you listen to different punk bands, and (or) screamo, if thats what you like. It has nothing to do with cutting, but although some emo's include cutting because cutting is an emotional disorder where you feel relief in hurting yourself due to internal feelings, but caused externally. Most emos are very shy at first, but optimistic when you begin to get to know them, they are often judged because of what they wear. And to be honest, being emo is just a style. Just like preppy is a style, and grunge is a style.
Alot of people tend to think lead singer of the band BLACK VEIL BRIDES andy biersack is emo, but he isn't...he just dresses that way. He's also reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy sexy.
