An indication of awkwardness, distaste, un-comfort or even fear.
E.g:

Steven : “Erm, what the flip dude.”

Greg : “What? Was it *really* that bad?”

Steven : “You ate a raw egg, and then proceeded to rip said hair off your head and push it into your pants.”
