The corporatized group tested version of traditional nerd centric themes and aesthetics where all the fun and edge has been rounded off creating the most milk toast version of something that was once awesome. Something you would only expect to come out of the TV show "Big Bang Theory."

Typically off putting and annoying trying to fit in with nerd/geek culture. Often with modern day ideas being forced into a setting where it doesn't make sense.
