The phrase commonly used at the beginning of YouTube videos, reminding viewers to show support by liking the video and subscribing to the channel for more content. Hence, it becomes increasingly common for "Don't forget to like and subscribe" to be the first sentence of YouTube videos.
Every time I tune in to a new vlog, the first thing I hear is, 'Don't forget to like and subscribe!' It's like a ritual now.

The digital equivalent of "tipping" on YouTube, where subscribing is meant as a form of support for channels. However, the YouTube algorithm interprets this as a signal that you have more time to watch videos. Subscribing to more channels doesn't magically ease your parents' screen time limits — it's akin to tipping whilst dining at a restaurant, indicating that the service deserves a higher wage, not that your stomach can hold more food.
I subscribed to ten new channels to show my support, but my parents still treat it like I've signed up for a marathon of screen time—it's just a digital equivalent of "tipping", not a signal that I want to binge-watch YouTube!
