When an individual takes a selfie at a setting where tragedy has taken place or in a macabre setting this is known as a Dark Selfie and is a facet of Dark Tourism. A Dark Selfie can also be taken at the site of immediate tragedy such as a terrorism attack or a car accident.

In the Unreal Tournament video game series a Dark Horse is like an Ace where a single player manages to eliminate the entire enemy team with the killing blow. Unlike an Ace the player needs to be the last person alive on their team while the entire enemy team is alive. The player must kill the entire enemy team alone to be a Dark Horse.
