One is dinged when one is contacted by the NHS Covid Track-and-Trace app and told to self-isolate following exposure to someone with Covid. ‘Ding’ is onomatopoeic after the sound of a phone notification. Commonly ‘be / get dinged’.
I got dinged by Track and Trace, but I’ve got no idea how.
