Using software to scan any of the 65536 ports on a computer. This may be done for technical reasons by a network administrator or for nefarious reasons by a computer cracker.

Ned carried out a full Port scan while checking the firewalls integrety.

Triage nurse: He broke his ankle/got punched in the nose/ was found on the floor next to his bed/ is demented. Pan scan.
ER resident: He looks ok, but he broke a bone. Pan scan.
Radiology attending: He's got an effing nasal bone fracture. What are they looking for? Why the pan scan.
Radiology resident: I don't know. I didn't ask.

Scan

St. Louis slang meaning odd, suspicious, or sketchy. Usually used for a person, place, thing, or event. Mainly used for when something is scan in general and not in relation to anything specific. Similar to “sus”.
