ASL is an abbreviation for American Sign Language.

American Sign Language is a language used by people who are Deaf, hearing-impaired, or among rare cases, someone who is mute might learn sign language to communicate. There are also people who have trouble with speech, have trouble vocalizing things or have certain disabilities who learn sign language as well.
