They are weak and expensive to maintain, but are quite good at blowing, in all meanings of the word. They use their money as a guard, and therefore think that they are better than everybody else. Due to their constant frustration at never having enough money they take out their hate on a much more superior class, the Marksman, of which one entry was made by a Chief Bandit, Septher, although he's a friendly one. Most Chief Bandits quit and make Marksmen anyway.
