Shit on a Shingle

Hamburger meat with sauce on toasted bread (something like a Sloppy Joe's but not in a bun--but on white toast). Quite distinct from foreskins on toast which is creamed chipped beef. Nautical term.

I prefer shit on a shingle to foreskins on toast.

Slang term referring to obnoxious Aussie's (usually in countries outside Australia). The term comes from how these Aussie's tend to where white singlets (often with a beer brand on it). These people are often drunk and dangerous.

Oh hell no! I was hoping for a fun relaxing vacation but there are singlets everywhere.

Swinging singles is a double-entendre. It fits the decade, from the dot-com boom and bust, the next boom and 2008 bust.

The Roaring 20s were something, but nothing like the Swinging Singles.
