Long Island

A wealthy island off of Manhattan in the state of the New York. Traditionally, it consists of solely the affluent counties of Suffolk and Nassau. Geographically, it also contains the New York City boroughs of Queens and Brooklyn, although no one considers people from the boroughs to be "Long Islanders". Known for its abundance of Italian-Americans and Irish-Americans, in addition to extremely high cost of living and nice beaches, which also function as a summer destination for people from New York City.

You know you're in Long Island when the high school students are driving better cars than the teachers.

Long Island

okay, i live on Long Island, on the LI/Queens Border in Floral Park. We are not "gansta" at all. Long Island is a very rich area filled with JAPs and prissy white girls. To us, "upstate" is anything that isnt one of the Five Bouroughs.

Floral Park Queens is not part of Long Island, but the Town of Floral Park is.

Long Island is a beautiful place to live, the environment is amazing. We have beaches, state parks, forests. There is so much history its amazing. The town i live in is high upper class but there are places with lower standards. I also live in a jewish white town. Most jews in the USA live in NY and NJ and the most live on LONG ISLAND. many towns are known as Jappy Jericho Japoyset, Japicho Plainjew and Old Bethhamish. But there are towns where the jewish population is less.
Not everyone is snobby and rich eventhough it may seem like that.
AND NORTHSHORE NASSAU COUNTY GIRLS DO IT BEST. were smart funny pretty not trashy and mostly wealthy
The hamptons are the sickest part of LI and most people go there for the summer.
ALso we live 30-45 mins away form the city and can go whenever, which we do to take advantage of shopping and clubs, although we have enough of our own.

My camp friend jess is from Long island she is pretty rich and has a sick house in the hamptons so we beach it all the time.

First off , we are not all snobs. Yes we might be the wealthier part of new york but that does not mean we are snobs. Nor are we pansies either. We are not clueless as to where things are in the city either. Yes we go on vacations often whoop di fuckin dooo. Keep talking smack on us and we'll just laugh and cut you off in our brandnew cars, while your driving your moms beat up honda civic.

An island located east of NYC, with amazing beaches and some of the best people you'll ever meet. You can play the 6 degrees of separation game and you will find a connection to 9 out of the 10 people you'll meet from Long Island. Yes, sometimes we slip into our customary "Lawnguyland" accents, but the fact of the matter is they happen as a result of the people you grow up with, not necessarily where you're from. In fact, most people love our accents, and if you don't, don't listen to us talk when we go into a rant.
You either hate it or you love it, but there sure as hell isn't a place like this anywhere else.
