You begin your journey washed ashore on the beach of an insignificant island, and embark on a glorious quest - making friends (and enemies), growing stronger, and seeking the truth - through the treacherous, pirate-infested Bronze Sea.
The game permits you to play as either a righteous Hero, seeking justice and helping the commonfolk; a self-serving villain, whose only intentions are those that further his or her own self-interests; an anti-hero, whose actions could be deemed neutral-leaning to an objective bystander; or something in between those realms!
Video games aren't for everyone, but this is one that many will find enjoyable due to its versatility in terms of activities that are available to the player. The story's relatively compelling, too (albeit with a few jumps in logic), and significant effort was put into polishing the final product. Would recommend checking it out!
