Cashing In

When old musicians work with the the "hip" and "now" producers to make a comeback record. The term is named after the late great Johnny Cash's records with Rick Rubin (no disrespect intended - very respectable records). This tactic has been employed by the likes of Paul McCartney (w/ Nigel Godrich) and by easily the hardest sell of all, Neil Diamond (also w/ Rubin). In many cases the record turns out to be a good one, but the motivations are so transparent that it deserves to be acknowledged for what it is. Often times these records only succeed in gaining the artist back some of their long lost cred. When this occurs look for commercial placement to help recoup album costs.
Guy #1 "Yo - you hear that new Neil Diamond record??"
Guy #2 "Fuck no! That dude blows! I just know the one that my mom always puts on when she cleans the house."
Guy #1 "Yeah, but Rick Rubin produced this one!"
Guy #2 "Fuck that guy. He's clearly just cashing in."

cashing in

where somebody cashes in on a joke you have made it is refered to as cashing in as the user is taking credit for a joke you have made and reaping the rewards from it. It is an unjust act of joke stealing
thomas pokes emily with a bannana and his group of friends find it hysterical.

phillip then repeats this act for the same reaction

thomas exclaims, "PHILLIP YOU'RE JUST CASHING IN!"

cashing in your chips

to withdraw from any enterprise or venture that appears to be on a downturn, while you yourself still can keep any personal gains.
-from the poker (or similiar betting game involving playing cards) term, where one takes their remaining chips, representing the amount of money they have left, and trades them in for their value in cash.
"at the rate your shares in the company are going, as your financial advisor, I would seriously suggest you consider cashing in your chips. Sell them off while they are still worth something!"

cashin in on face

investment casting

A molding process whereby precious metals are melted down and formed into household items, sporting-goods, etc., enabling their buyers to be less "obvious" or "visible" in their acquisition of said valuable minerals than they would be if they simply purchased coins, bars, etc.
Two excellent examples of investment casting would be electrical/plumbing components and golf clubs, which can be formed from gold, silver, platinum, etc. and installed/stored in the investor's home without anyone's being the wiser.
