A DJ who only uses his laptop and/or midi controllers to perform live, instead of CDs or vinyl.

Since controllers plug into a computers USB port, this type of performer is called a USBJ.

USBJ

A USBJ is a DJ who relies entirely on pre-prepared playlists on a USB stick; often pressing play and letting the tech do the rest, rather than mixing live.

The club was packed, but it turned out the headliner was just another USBJ. Barely touched the decks all night! - Not like Steve LP who mixes on turntables!
