Stereotypes unfairly group a certain type of people into a label.

It is stupid to think that anyone who wears Aeropostale is a slut. It's dumb to believe that anyone from Ireland is drunk all the time. Not everyone who likes black and is intrigued by Gothic culture is a Satanist.

Unfortunately, most people are very hypocritical about stereotypes and labels. These people preach about how stupid it is to judge others, but make ridiculous statements that strongly imply unfair prejudice against a certain group of people. See the example below.

Person: I hate it when people judge me for listening to emo music and dressing in black.
*blonde in Hollister jeans walks by*
Person: *snickers* What a slutty prep. They're such conformists. At least I know I'm unique.

Stereotypes suck. Get to know someone before you judge them.

An ignorant assumtion of a person based on looks or ethnicity

Stereotypes: that would come from a very ignorant person

(these are NOT my opinions, just a generalization of people who judge others this way)

Prep- "shes wearing clothes from abercrombie!, she must be a slut and have no individuality"

Goth-"They wear all black! They must be freaks who are trying to prove a point by being "different" weird"

Black people-"wow they have different skin color then I do!- That must mean that they are lazy, and that they like to eat fried chicken"

Poor people-"His parents only make 5 thousand a year!, he must be a "scumbag" and never take showers"

Nobody should be categorized by what they wear, or the music they listen to, they are just doing whatever the fuck they want, and not trying to impress anybody.

Any middle-school social grouping such as emo, goth, prep, gangsta, jock

Or, any assumption that one characteristic of a person determines another,

All jews are not greedy

All politicians do not stereotype

All muslims are not terrorists

All female bartenders are not harlots

Stereotype 

The leading cause of hatred on earth.

A label that someone puts one in to express their style of life. Often causing people to be bashed and made fun of. Being labeled and being expected to be like everybody else that's in the same label as you are.

A truly sick thing that people need to put an end to.

Bill: "Hey, I'm going to stereotype that girl as emo because she has black hair and has piercings."
Sara: "No, she's not. She's wearing a Casualties shirt, so she's ovbiously a Punk."
Smart Person: "Maybe she's just wearing those things because she likes them. It doesn't matter what she is. So shut the fuck up and get a life."
