power metal sucks

A phrase said by many death metal fans because power metal is not "brutal" enough and actually care about having a melody, they also dislike the high vocals too.
Brutal death metaller: "omfg power metal sucks! Too many well played guitar solos for me! RRAAARG GRRRAWRG! BLAARRG!

Power metaller: " Yeah, they don't clash all the instruments together because they want a MELODY.

Brutal death metaller: "what's a melody?!"

Power metaller: /facepalm ¬_¬;

Extreme power metal

A combination of power metal and extreme metal, defined by high tempo songs, technically challenging and melodic riffs/solos, mid-range growled vocals, and an overall darker sound. Bands are often labeled Melodic Death Metal, even though they have as much in common with death metal as they do Glam. Quite popular in the Finnish metal scene.
Children of Bodom, Norther, Wintersun, and Kalmah are the prime examples of Extreme power metal. Dragonforce is not, though they think that they invented the term.

epic power metal

also known as E.P.M, is a style brought about when melodic metal fuses with extreme metal(speed and power metal fused). the first origin of epic power metal came from the band "Dragonforce", when experts didnt have a way to describe their combonation of ambiant breakdowns, break-neck solos, heavy gallops, melodic singing, and seemingly undefinable lyrics. most epic power metal songs include a great amount of speed, organization, wide octive vocals, twin guitar solos, heavy bridges, and usually from 6 to 10 mins long. and are meant to give one the sense of epicness or disbelief.

poser metal

Lame pop music performed by feminine men that wear makeup and have no historical knowledge of heavy metal.
Poser metal reared it's ugly head in the mid-1980's. Corporate television producers have tried to re-write rock history and give this type of teeny bopper bubblegum credibility within pop culture history. It was a joke then, is a joke now. Practioneers of this genre include Poison, Warrant, Winger, Slaughter, Skid Row, Motley Crue.
