Free ShowDown Raise, in poker where you or a villain check-raise or even bet-3bet with a hand that
you would like to see a showdown cheaply but can also improve on the river to a relatively-hidden better hand. Often it is used as a way of seeing
the showdown for the same amount as just check-calling both the turn and the river, but against weak-tight players it might even win you the pot
on the turn since many weak-tight players think "he's not 3-betting with worse than what I have, I fold".
When
the middle card paired
on the turn, Ivey decided to go for the the
good ol' FSDR by check-raising, hoping Dwan would fold now, but knowing at the very least that he was likely to have the river action go check-check now.
