insegrevious 

The state or quality of being caught napping when one wants to pretend alertness. An insegrevious person reveals his insegreviousness by saying, "I was only resting my eyes."
Her father was forever being insegrevious, pretending he'd not been napping even during the emergency meeting. He'd wink at those who'd questioned his attentiveness and, grinning, would crow, "I was just resting my eyes!" The other prison guards would make subtle barfing noises and motions.
