Acetaminophen

A fever reducing painkiller known for it's liver toxicity when taken in semi-large doses, also known as APAP.

It's found in pretty much any drug that's popular to get high so they add APAP to prevent abuse. Common drugs include Vicodin/Lortab 5-500mg APAP/Hydrocodone and Dextromethorphan hydrobromide cough syrup formulas.

Avoid it if you can.

Acetaminophen

Non-narcotic pain-killer and fever reducer. Acetaminophen relieves pain by elevating the pain threshold. It reduces fever through its action on the heat-regulating center of the brain. Specifically, it tells the center to lower the body's temperature when the temperature is elevated.

Approved by the FDA in 1951.

Availiable in liquid suspension, chewable tablets, coated caplets, gelcaps, geltabs, and suppositories. Common dosages are 325, 500 and 650 mg.

When used as directed side effects are rare, but can cause liver damage due to large doses.
